I am a lecturer at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Zurich. Previously, I worked in the Nominalizations project at the University of Hamburg. I also spent time at the University of Constance, the ILLC in Amsterdam, the Humboldt University in Berlin, the MIT in Cambridge (MA), Uppsala University, and Concept Lab at the University of Oslo. Starting from September 2017 I will be on leave from Zurich for a year to work in Matti Eklund's Normativity project at Uppsala University.
I mainly work on questions at the intersection of philosophy of language and linguistics. In my PhD thesis, which received the Wolfgang-Stegmüller award in 2015, I dealt with the ontological commitments of our talk about numbers. Currently, I am very much interested in conventional implicatures (and related linguistic phenomena such as pejoratives) and, more generally, in questions at the semantics/pragmatics interface.
